Arrow Season Finale Cutting to the Core! Ends with Cliffhanger – Did Arrow’s Loved Ones Die?

Fans of the DC Comics on TV would have been sure to sign in for the season finale of Arrow on Thursday, 25th May. Quite frankly, the Season 5 finale did an amazing job of capping what was an awesome season and also it provided more than simple justification for continuing with the series.

Critics were up in arms after a very weak showing for Arrow season four and so series writers knew they had to really come good. Many even called for the cancellation of the show based on the dramas within the drama that was Oliver (played by Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), the League of Assassins, on and on and on. However, in season 5, Oliver  luckily and wisely tempered things all the way down and got interested in other fiery relationships. This may verily be for the better. – but lets reserve judgement on that.arrow-finale3

Season 5 really went to the level the audiences need when it was revealed that Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) was actually the villain Prometheus. It upped the level of danger and anticipation (even anxiety) so much more to realize he was not a paltry side-villain. Afterall, working on Oliver’s conscience in that manner was absolute genius – making Arrow see himself as a murderer disguised as a hero – when all he really was doing was killing, in the name of justice. Stephen Amell showed the full dexterity of his character, Oliver, by enlisting the help of other villains like Captain Boomerang (Nick E. Tarabay), Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law) and Slade Wilson formerly Deathstroke (played by Manu Bennett).

The writers of Arrow clearly felt compelled to leave us all hanging. Chase had rigged the island hoping that if Oliver killed him, everyone would have died. However, with Oliver, you cannot manipulate him. And it so happened Chase killed himself, setting off several bombs. Did all of Oliver’s friends and loved ones die in the blasts? We all have to wait until Season 6 returns in the fall to know…

While expecting some twists and turns they certainly thought they knew all the surprise guests the show would have had by this stage. Surprise! Surprise! Fans were treated to another big return in this epic hour long finale. The running flashback storyline has finally reached its climax with Arrow – this we are grateful way. In the flashback, Oliver (Stephen Amell) managed to overcome and kill nemesis Konstantin Kovar (Dolph Ludgren), the biggest surprise of the season was revealed. A moment showing an intensely emotional Moira. Throughout her first two active seasons, Moira was known for her hard stance. Yet, with Oliver’s success over Konstantin Kovar, and his making a call to tell his mother he really is alive, the emotion she displayed in that scene really cut to the heart of all viewers. This was a depth of feeling not generally associated with Moira.

  1. This makes me want to start watching the show again. They really lost me in Season 4 and I didn’t bother to return to it, but I’ve been hearing more positive things about it lately, that the writers really listened to its audience and really made an effort to not screw things up again. Not going to lie, I might just start with the 1st episode of Season 5 haha. I don’t think I can finish S4. Great post!
